Grimes Helps Artists Distribute Songs Using Her AI Voice—If They Split Royalties. Here’s How It Works.
Forbes, 06/12/23. Music distributor TuneCore has partnered with Grimes’ AI platform to allow artists and fans to legally create songs using an AI-generated version of the artist’s voice. The software, called Elf.Tech, produces music using generative AI and a voiceprint provided by Grimes. Any songs using the voiceprint will be subject to a 50% royalty split with Grimes if she approves the collaboration. Grimes has expressed interest in being a guinea pig in the developing space of AI-generated music. However, some music legends have denounced AI-generated songs, warning that the rise of AI in music would require musicians to defend their “human capital against AI.” READ THE ARTICLE
