What if ChatGPT was trained on decades of financial news and data? BloombergGPT aims to be a domain-specific AI for business news
Nieman Journalism Lab, 04/03/23. Bloomberg has developed a large-scale AI model called BloombergGPT, specifically trained on financial data, to perform natural language processing tasks. The model was trained on a corpus of over 700 billion tokens, including Bloomberg’s own financial data.
BloombergGPT can translate natural language requests, suggest headlines, and answer business-related questions. It outperforms other models on many finance-specific tasks and holds its own on general tasks. Bloomberg’s announcement did not specify how the model will be used, but it may inspire other news organizations to train their own AI models. READ MORE

Midjourney and its alternatives: a guide to AI image generators
domus, 04/03/23. AI-based image generation has improved rapidly, making it hard to tell real and generated images apart. Midjourney shut down free trials after fake images went viral, including one of Pope Francis in a puffer jacket and a violent arrest of Donald Trump. AFP confirmed that another viral image of a French protester with a bloodied face was produced using Midjourney.
Alternatives include Dall•E 2, which can create and edit images based on text prompts; Stable Diffusion, which offers more options to guide image generation; and Adobe Firefly, a promising AI model that may integrate into Adobe’s Creative Suite products. READ MORE
