Microsoft warns to revoke Bing access for AI chatbot data collection

INTERESTING ENGINEERING, 03/25/23. Microsoft Corp. has threatened to cut off access to its search index data for competing search engines if they continue to use it for creating AI products. This move comes after Microsoft integrated OpenAI’s AI-powered chat engine into Bing, and rivals quickly implemented it into their own products.

Microsoft has informed at least two clients that using its Bing search index to feed their AI conversation tools is against their contract, and threatened to revoke their permits.
